7 tips to designing a fab gallery wall in your home

Hello lovelies!

So you've collected quite a few different pieces of art over the years, but you never got round to displaying them. Maybe you're a bit stumped how to because they are so varied?

Well 'be stumped' no more. Here are 7 simple tips to designing a fab gallery wall in your home, to help you out.

1. Plan your layout - This may seem a bit obvious, but just arranging the pieces you have on the floor first, is a great way to start visualising your art together. At this point it doesn't matter what size, shape or whether its mounted or framed yet. It's more about how you see them together, what grabs your attention.

2. Mix and match - I love this part because you can be a bit more relaxed about a potential theme. I love lots of different kinds of art so mixing canvas art with photographs, prints and even greeting cards can work really well in terms of visual interest.

3. Create balance - Do you like your symmetry? Or maybe you prefer asymmetry? Either way, playing around with the arrangement of different sized and shaped pieces can really stimulate depth. Keep going until you find one that is pleasing to your eyes.

4. Star of the show - Consider using a bigger piece as a focal point with all the other pieces arranged around it. Take your eyes on a journey, taking in details and colours from each piece of art.

5. Mix up your frames - The variety of frames available is just unending so add another layer of intrigue to your wall with classic, vintage, contemporary and nice simple frames made from different materials and in different colours. You could even do a mix of framed and unframed works!

6. Add your personal touch - Adding extra little elements like family and travel photos, concert tickets, magazine cut-outs and doodles can really amplify the meaning and uniqueness to your gallery wall.

7. Lighting - If you really want to pimp things up a bit, you can introduce lighting to your gallery wall by adding picture lights, spotlights and/or stick on wall lights. This can definitely enhance the impact of what you're trying to create in your home, adding a touch of personality and even a further focal point.

I'm sure these tips have got your juices flowing and even more ideas are coming to mind. Maybe you have some more?

I hope this helps you move forward and you're even more eager to showcase your personal collection of art. Just take your time and enjoy the process!

With positivity,

Helen x
